June 15, 2011 /Internet Radio and Podcasting PR News/ -- Clinicians Lucky Bennett, N.D. and Jacques de Broekert, M.Ed., CPT of Natural Horizons Wellness Centers release latest podcast discussing implications of sleep on driving, alcoholism, weight gain, and major diseases like cancer as well as several tips on how to improve overall sleep health.
Lucky Bennett, ND is the guest interviewed in the latest podcast hosted by Jacques de Broekert, M.Ed., CPT. Both are clinicians at Natural Horizons Wellness Center, an alternative treatment center, in Northern Virginia. Together they discuss sleep, why we do not get enough, and how to overcome sleep problems for better overall health.
Broekert starts the podcast by saying, "You know, from a health perspective and a mental health perspective [sleep is] kind of low on the totem pole because it's not productive, and that's kind of what I think we kind of all see it as, not productive. So it takes a back seat to everything else."
Bennett goes on to explain that the result of sleep taking a back seat is devastating because sleep is when the body repairs itself physically and psychologically. When asked if sleep deprivation can be made up in a night or two of good sleep Bennett responds, "I see people really noticing a difference over the course of a month or two or three."
The podcast, titled Sleep and Your Health, discusses how to get more and better sleep, how being sleep deprived behind the wheel is like drunk driving, how lack of sleep contributes to cancer and other diseases, and why lack of sleep leads to binging and weight gain.
Though Natural Horizons Wellness Center is known, among other things, as an alternative cancer treatment center specializing in integrative medical practices such as alternative breast cancer treatment and IPT cancer treatment, Natural Horizons staffs many specialists in various disciplines to treat a variety of conditions.
All podcasts hosted by Broekert, as wells as full podcast transcripts, can be found on the Natural Horizons Center's website.
